MICHIGAN AG COUNCIL

The Michigan Ag Council (MAC) is made up of diverse commodity groups and ag businesses working together to build awareness among Michigan consumers about today's food and agriculture. Our efforts revolve around educating Michigan consumers about their food and connecting them with the hard working men and women who grow, process, manufacture and sell it. We promote all Michigan commodities and encourage people to select Michigan produce, meat and products.

You can browse through our site to learn more about MAC and our values.

What's new

Pure Michigan AgricultureMAC has taken the Pure Michigan Agriculture project from solely a media and awareness campaign to an opportunity to create firsthand ag experiences for others. In October, MAC hosted their first Pure Michigan Agriculture bus tour to showcase, and encourage conversation about, Michigan agriculture from farm to table.

Pure Michigan Agriculture blogger tourThe dairy-focused tour welcomed several Michigan mom bloggers to visit the Horning family dairy farm in Machester, Michigan; Michigan Dairy--Kroger's dairy processing plant; and a Kroger store near Livonia.

At the farm, bloggers learned about the milking process and cow care and comfort. At the dairy plant, the group learned about product testing in the onsite lab, watched cottage cheese and sour cream being made and got a taste of the many food safetyMichigan mom bloggers at Horning dairy farm and quality standards in place at every level of processing.

The tour wrapped up with a Michigan-made lunch and "milk tasting" in a nearby Kroger store, where the women learned about the grocer's efforts to make Michigan foods more easily identifiable in-store.

This bus tour was made possible as part of a special projects grant from the United Soybean Board.
